Mixels Nurp-Naut

Found Mixels wave 4 at the local Target last night and picked up the Orbitrons.

First thing that caught my eyes about these guys is that two of them seem to have ball joints for all four limbs. That, the space theme, and the lime green, made me decide to grab the set on the spot. I might get Vampos of the Glowkies later and that's probably all I'll get for Wave 4. Come to think of it, I don't think I've posted my other Mixels yet so I'll need to get on that later.

I went ahead and built Nurp-Naut first since he's the cutest with that droopy eye.



He also has a second face on the other side. The hole in the disc piece it's mounted on kinda ruins the look but it's not too bad once you get used to it. The head's on a swivel joint so you can switch faces at will.


Spare parts. An extra eye piece means this guy has a total of 4 eye pieces.

I'll build the other guys later, likely one each night. I also picked up some Lego Minifigures from series 13.


These were the main ones I was after. If I had run across the Samurai girl, I would have got her as well but since I found the ones I really want already, it's going to be a pass. At $4, I find it hard to justify a Minifigure purchase especially when I can get a much more fun Mixels set for just a dollar more. :/


Also picked up the Lego Movie Double-Decker Couch. Normally I'd wait for a sale but something tells me this is going to be hard to find if I don't pick it up ASAP.


Not related to Lego but I picked up a couple of the mini-sized TF Rescue Bots on clearance. I actually found these more fun than the recent Legends Class figures which is sad considering how much more expensive the Legends figures are. The Rescue Bots are simple, sturdy, cheap, and fun; everything the Legends sadly aren't. -_-;

A few new toys.

One of my favorite new toys of the year isn't really a toy. It's a HTC One V that I got from Radioshack for $50 early in the year. I originally got the One V due to the price to try out Android as well as try out Virgin Mobile. Unfortunately, while VM had a pretty decent deal on paper, their data reliability was crappy and often I got very slow and unreliable speeds. So instead of using the One V as my replacement phone, I'm planning to replace my iPod Touch 4 with this as my stand-alone mobile device. The biggest feature of Android for me is the speech to text ability that you access wherever you can pull up the software keyboard at. This feature is important as often I want a way to jot down notes and ideas without having to type it while driving. For this reason, I'll likely eventually replace my Lumia with an Android phone since that feature relies on a data connection.

On a different tangent, I got quite a few Lego sets last year due to clearances at Walmart and other places. I especially got a number of the smaller sets like the ones pictured below. My favorite of the bagged sets has to be the mini bulldozer by far. Am I a kid or what? ;)

Lego Store in Houston Galleria

Went to the Lego Store in the Houston Galleria to buy a couple of brick separators. Decided to take some pictures while I was there. Sorry for crappy white balance.

Bionicle Baranus V7 review

Found Baranus at the clearance aisle at Walmart a couple months ago and built it about a month ago. Pretty nice set for the price.



Package contents. I like how Lego bags up some of the parts by each major component. (Now if only Mega Bloks would do the same thing...) There were a few parts that weren't bagged however it's easy to tell which bag they belong with. 1 is the pilot, 2 is the carriage, and 3 is the beast.

Lego odds and ends

About a couple months ago, I started buying Lego stuff. This was prompted by my discovery of the mini-fig blind packs. They weren't cheap though at $3 a pop so I set out to see what other Lego related stuff I can find and soon enough I was buying more than I thought I would.
